Does the carbon coach roof and carbon forebeam increase lightning strike possibilities?

Published on 04/14/2026

The lightning strike will likely come from the top section of the mast; hence the lightning protection system (option) uses the mast as a conductor and then channels the power down to an earth plate through the hull (grounding). So no, carbon components would not increase the possibility of lightning strike however if struck, they will increase the likelihood of power transferring through those carbon parts, such as the roof or forebeam.
