How can I get freshwater to the galley from my port side freshwater tank?

Published on 04/14/2026

Both the Seawind 1600 and Passagemaker edition have a port and stbd fresh water system setup which can be run independantly or as a single system.

The logic here is that should you have a contaminated tank, you can isolate that tank and still run the other side of the boat with an operational tank, pump and toilet system. Likewise, if one pump fails, you still have the redundancy of having one side of the boat operational.

The system isolation shutoff valve is located in the stbd deck locker, forward of the stbd side diesel tank. In the closed position, the stbd fresh water tank will only draw from the stbd tank, and supply the stbd side and vice versa for the port side.

With the valve open, the stbd side pump will still only be able to draw from the stbd tank, and likewise the port pump will only be able to draw from the port tank, however, the port tank and pump will feed the stbd side outlets and vice versa.

So whilst there is no transfer system, you draw water from either side of the boat based on both pumps being operational and the valve being open.
