From Seawind 1170 to Seawind 1370: An Owner’s Journey Built on Confidence
During a recent factory visit, Seawind owners Simon and Nicole Cameron came to see the progress of their Seawind 1370 currently in build. We had the opportunity to hear their sharing about the journey with Seawind.
For them, choosing a cruising catamaran has never been just a single decision. It has been a journey shaped by time on the water, hands-on experience, and the confidence that comes from knowing a boat can truly support the way they want to sail.
That journey began with their experience onboard the Seawind 1170 and now continues with the Seawind 1370, a larger and more capable catamaran that represents the next chapter in their sailing life.
A Practical Beginning with the Seawind 1170
Living and sailing on the Seawind 1170 gave Simon and Nicole a clear introduction to the Seawind range. As relatively new sailors, they found the boat approachable, comfortable and easy for two people to handle.
“The 1170 was very easy for two people to sail,” they shared. “It was a lovely boat with lots of room. We were able to have friends and family onboard without feeling cramped, and we were able to sail ourselves without too many concerns.”
For them, the 1170 was more than an entry point. It became a platform for learning, building confidence and understanding what mattered most in their next boat. The space, comfort and ease of handling made it a strong fit for their lifestyle, while also preparing them for the move into a larger cruising catamaran.
“The 1170 was a good beginning and a great boat to sail. Lots of room, and very easy to host people as well.”
Why They Stayed with Seawind
Simon and Nicole’s connection with Seawind began even earlier, after chartering a Seawind 1260 in the Whitsundays in 2021. That experience left a strong impression, and when the opportunity came to own a Seawind 1170 while waiting for their 1370, it only strengthened their confidence in the brand.
“The opportunity to get the 1170 just enhanced our feeling about Seawind,” Simon said. “To sell that and come to our 1370 after four years of waiting is fantastic. It’s really exciting.”
Their decision to stay with Seawind was grounded in the features they had experienced firsthand: the tri-fold door, the protected helm stations, the comfort onboard and the quality of the finish.

“We love the features. The tri-fold door is amazing, the protected helms, the comfort in the boat and the quality finish. You really feel like you’re in a beautiful apartment. It’s a beautiful range of boats, and the finish is fabulous.”
For owners considering long-range cruising, these details matter. They are not simply design features, but practical elements that shape everyday life onboard.
Seeing the Seawind Build Process Up Close
During their visit to the Seawind production facility, Simon and Nicole had the chance to see their 1370 taking shape and meet the teams involved in bringing each boat to life.

For Simon, the factory visit reinforced the quality of the boats and the strength of the process behind them.
“It’s the quality of the boats, the process, seeing the different stages and meeting the people we had previously only met online. It’s a good company. From our perspective, everything about Seawind has been good.”
Nicole was equally impressed by the scale of the operation and the attention to detail across each stage of the build.
“I’ve been blown away by how many boats are here, the different range, and meeting the teams who do the woodworking and upholstery. You can see the attention to detail, and you can see that they enjoy working together.”
Beyond the craftsmanship itself, the documentation, quality control and structured build process gave them additional reassurance.
“When you go around and see the documentation for each boat and the quality control requirements, that gives us great comfort.”
The Right Step into the Seawind 1370
“It reinforces our decision 100%,” Simon said. “There’s no doubt we’ve made the right decision with the 1370.”
For them, the move from the 1170 to the 1370 feels like a natural progression. The 1170 helped them build experience and confidence, making the transition into a larger boat feel more considered and comfortable.
“The step from the 1170 to the 1370 was a really good step because this is a big boat. Our transition to the 1370 is going to be so much better because of the 1170 experience.”
Nicole also noted that the quality they saw in the small details, from joins to finishes to the way the team prepared each part of the boat, only reinforced their confidence.
“It’s the quality I see in all the little details. The way the team is working to finish the boat beautifully just reinforces that we made the right decision.”

Advice for Future Seawind Owners Insight Shared to Future Seawind Owners.
When asked what insight advice they would give to future Seawind owners, Simon and Nicole’s message was simple: embrace the experience and trust the process.
“If you’ve made the decision, get involved,” Simon said. “We found the Seawind team to be particularly interested in what we had to say and genuinely interested in helping us achieve what we wanted.”
They also appreciated the support from Multihull Central, Seawind’s official dealer in Australia, together with Mike Rees, Seawind’s Global Sales Director, and the wider Seawind team.
“From an information-sharing and outcome perspective, they’ve been perfect for us.”
For Nicole, the key is to stay connected throughout the process. Sailing on other Seawind models, speaking with current owners, asking questions about options and engaging with the owner community all helped them refine what they wanted in their own 1370.
“Talk to existing owners. Ask questions. The owner community has been invaluable. The team is hugely approachable, and they genuinely want your experience to be the best one.”
Their final advice is one that reflects the trust built through the entire ownership journey:
“Get involved, trust the process. It is an incredibly well-controlled and high-quality process from what we can see.”
A Journey Built on Trust

From chartering a Seawind 1260, to owning the Seawind 1170, to preparing for life onboard the Seawind 1370, Simon and Nicole’s story reflects what long-term confidence in a brand looks like.
It is not built overnight. It comes through experience, through people, through product quality and through the feeling that each step forward is supported by a team who understands what owners are working toward.
For Simon and Nicole, the Seawind 1370 is not just their next boat. It is the next chapter of a journey that has been shaped by trust, learning and time well spent on the water.
