The Yamaha High Thrust outboard motors have long been established as the go-to for commercial outboards with their large surface props and adjusted gear ratios for displacement vessels.
The "T" in T25 signifies the High Thrust model however it's importabt to note that in 2017, with the introduction of the Efi model, the Yamaha T25 High Thrust model had the gear ratio brought in-line with a standard outboard.
Pre 2017 T25 High Thrust Gear ratio = 2:33;1
Post 2017 T25 Efi "High Thrust" model gear ratio = 2:08:1
Standard F25 Yamaha outboard gear ratio = 2:08:1
However, the T25 can have the thrust improved if a larger prop is installed plus the addition of a deflector ring. The Yamaha part number for this prop+deflector kit is: 6J8-W4591-00
Note: The prop must have a straight case to allow for the deflector ring to fit. Many props have a flared case which will not allow the deflector ring to be installed.
The deflector ring dispurses the exhaust in an alternative direction giving a huge performance boost when going stern-to, so close quarter manourvering is much improved.
