What does the Mac Plus DC to DC converter do on my 1370?

The Seawind 1370 runs on a 24v house battery system however there are a number of items on the boat that still run off a 12v system: Yanmar Inboard Diesel start batteries; B&G VHF; helm electric windows, 12v outlets and importantly the B&G NMEA network.

 

To power these, we use a Mac Plus DC to DC converter as explained in the below technical operation video:
