Seawind Catamarans new flagship 1600 is nearing the half way mark in its build process and here is an update on the project. The boat in the pictures below will launch in the Spring of 2017, and then make her way to Europe in time for the Autumn shows. Opportunities to see her in person may be limited, so stay tuned for updates on her debut appearance!

While some boats look better on paper or in renderings, the modern lines of this Reichel-Pugh design are taking shape in our yard and we can safely say that this boat is sure to look even better in the flesh. The first picture we would like to share is the view from the helm. The unobstructed view is critical to the Seawind concept and is of utmost importance to making this boat a joy to sail.

Galley design is highly critical in monohulls (especially the tender ones) but nevertheless this catamaran is designed to see out the harshest of conditions and so the galley deserves special attention. This galley joins the cockpit and the saloon – a critical feature in catamarans of this size. It is both luxurious, and secure enough to reduce the need for harnesses.

Meet Seawind 1600 Project Manager Terry Vine. Over his shoulder you can see the chart table (with quite a view through those huge windows) and get a feel for the space on offer in a Seawind 1600. Work has already begun on the very next Seawind 1600, keeping Terry busy. However we hope he can join us at a boat show soon to “talk shop” with you. And we will schedule a question and answer session with Terry in December so you can ask about any technical detail and hear it straight from the “PM”.

And finally the room which perhaps sees more use than any other – and this is a fully composite molded heads/bathroom. Modern, easy to maintain, with plenty of space for wet and dry storage. The finished article will feature painted glass artwork and is sure to impress.
